I have been a philantrophist and volunteer for Indonesia's visually impaired community for many years. I believe that technology is most valuable when applied as an equalizer -- that the differently-abled can become as productive as anyone in our technocapitalist society.
I have created, with the sponsorship of IBM, the Digital Library for the Blind and the BlindCoding Group of Visually Impaired Programmers. For these, I received the Ginni Rometty Award for Corporate Citizenship from the CEO of IBM.
I even made it into Forbes -- there was an article about me back in August 2016, reprinted in full here:
